You’re going to get bad news every so often on the recruiting trail, but the Duke Blue Devils have paired good news with bad news over the last couple of days.
Getting the bad news out of the way, Class of 2021 safety Jalen Stroman committed to Virginia Tech over Duke and Virginia, and while the news was expected, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound three-star could have been a great addition in Durham.
Stroman, a Nokesville, Virginia native, was ranked as the No. 644 recruit in the rising senior class as well as the No. 49 safety and No. 19 prospect in his home state, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.
However, there was good news over the weekend for the Blue Devils as David Cutcliffe’s program made the Top-10 for Class of 2021 defensive back Da’Quan Gonzales, who announced his finalists via Twitter.
Gonzales hails from Jensen Beach, Florida and is ranked as the No. 765 player in his class in addition to being the No. 63 cornerback and No. 105 prospect in the state of Florida.
Joining Duke in the Top-10 for the 5-foot-10 defensive back is Louisiana State, South Florida, Tennessee, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Illinois, Louisville, and Miami.
